Planned town halls on the project will be scheduled in the spring of 2026 for Truth or Consequences and Hillsboro. Announcements of date and time will be made early and often. Topics of discussion will include the new technologies featured in the design, construction and operations – including dry stack filtered tailings, zero discharge, reduced footprint, progressive reclamation. We welcome your input and active participation in every stage of the project.

A majority of jobs created by the Copper Flat Project will be filled by Sierra County community residents.

Planned and designed to be a long-term employer and reliable community partner, the Copper Flat Project is focused on generating positive impact for the people and environment of the region for generations to come.

During the construction phase, the project is expected to generate more than 1,000 jobs
through direct employment, contractors, and supporting businesses.

Mining operations would require approximately 270 full-time workers on- site, with
hundreds of additional indirect and induced jobs created through supply chains, services,
and regional economic activity. These positions are expected to offer competitive wages and benefits, providing stable employment opportunities for families in Sierra County and surrounding communities.

As is true for so many rural counties, Sierra County experiences the challenge of a limited number of employment opportunities. By creating well-paying jobs in mining, engineering, equipment operation, maintenance, and environmental management, the Copper Flat project could help keep younger residents in the area as well as attract new talent to our communities.

Increased employment also stimulates growth in supporting areas such as construction, transportation, retail, hospitality, and professional services. Local workers with more income
to spend would benefit businesses of all sizes. Hotels, restaurants, equipment suppliers, fuel providers, construction contractors, and service companies would likely see increased demand.

Economic studies indicate that the Copper Flat project could produce roughly $175 million
in federal, state, and local taxes during the life of the mine through property taxes, severance taxes, gross receipts taxes, and income taxes. Property taxes alone are expected to provide millions of dollars in revenue to Sierra County.

In addition, the Copper Flat Project will be a model of modern mining, focusing on environmental stewardship, regulatory oversight, and land reclamation. Responsible mining practices allow natural resources to be developed while protecting water resources, wildlife, and surrounding landscapes. The Copper Flat project includes plans for reclamation and long-term monitoring once mining operations conclude, ensuring that the land is restored for enjoyment of future generations.
